Indian Flag Affixed Forcibly on the Gate of the Office of the Largest Pro-freedom Group in Kashmir

On the same day, following the coercive “Har Ghar Tiranga” scheme, under which the Indian authorities are forcing Kashmiris to hoist the Indian flag at their households and workplaces, a Hindu nationalist Brahmin activist Sandeep Mawa affixed tricolor on the gate of Hurriyat office in Srinagar. The move aims at inflicting a sense of defeat and humiliation on Kashmiris. Hurriyat is the most prominent political group in Kashmir that advocates Kashmir’s right to self-determination. Most of its leaders are currently incarcerated in prisons across India and all their political activities have been criminalized by the Indian state.^[3]
